Tomorrow is the day! Gastrópodos: Cocina en Ruta (= Gastropods: Cooking on the Road), a TV show that Jorge co-hosts, starts its second season.
But, what’s Gastrópodos?
Gastrópodos is a Galician Regional TV (TVG) food and cooking series. The Gastrópodo, a double decker bus equipped with a small kitchen and a living room area, visits places all around Galicia along with Michelin-starred chef Bea Sotelo (A Estación, Cambre), actress Marta Doviro and its food critic: Jorge. From scenic seashore towns to medieval monasteries, from fishermen ships to greenhouses the crew has been filming some of the most iconic Galician products. Mussels, octopus, pork, lamprey, eels, cheese, spider crab, broad beans, trouts, scallops, cuttlefish or green peppers.
For us, it’s been (and still is) an extraordinary opportunity. Visiting wineries and dairy farms, getting inside farms, factories or traditional fish markets, we’ve had the chance of knowing much better Galician food culture. It’s also been a great opportunity to get to know lots of bars and restaurants, trying tapas, traditional dishes and fix-price menus all over the country.
Whether you are planning a visit to Galicia, or simply curious about our food, Gastrópodos could be a good starting point in your research. It will air on Sundays at 4 P.M. (local time) and a couple of days later it will be also available online on TVG web.
Meanwhile, here is a picture gallery from inside the filming crew.
