As a tourist city, Santiago has a broad selection of hotels and accommodations. From self-catered apartments to charming bed and breakfast, from 5 stars hotels to hostels there is an option for everyone. With nearly 200 officially registered hotels, guest houses and Bed & Breakfasts the range of accommodation is so wide (considering Santiago is a 95.000 inhabitants town) it could be hard to find the perfect place.
That’s why we’ve decided to write about some of our favourite accommodations in town. We don’t have any commercial relation with them, but we know them as customers or via our clients and they are some of those places we recommend to friends and family visiting Santiago. And we would like to start with these three small places: Hotel Costa Vella, Hotel Moure and Hotel Altair. They belong to the same owner and the three are placed on the same street.
HOTEL COSTA VELLA
Hotel Costa Vella was the first hotel they opened, back in the 90s. Set in a 19th-century building overlooking the San Francisco church and the Pedroso Mountain it has a charming shady garden and a cozy cafeteria. Some of the rooms overlooking the garden have a spacious veranda with sofas.
Price for a double room: from 80€
Conceived as a slightly more upscale accommodation than its older brother, Altair has a comfortable lobby and nice rooms, especially the suites with a gambrel roof on the upper floor of the building.
Price for a double room: from 90€
Combining local 19th-century architecture, a Scandinavian flair and elements of industrial design, Hotel Moure is a hidden gem for architecture and design lovers. Each room is different, so you can choose from a bathtub on a patio to a room with impressive views of the Pedroso Mountain or a room with a canopy bed and an ensuite jacuzzi
